La película trata de  Stevens, un hombre de negocios millonario que después de morir hereda una gran parte de su fortuna a su resentido nieto llamado Jason, un joven solitario e irresponsable que no valora el valor del trabajo ni el significado de ganar bienes honradamente; y como heredero de la fortuna de su abuelo, se le asigna completar 12 “tareas” que lo harán comprender el valor de lo bien ganado y también dejarán en él una lección de vida conocida como “regalo” por cada tarea.

Durante este tiempo, Jason perderá todo lo que posee para que así comience a valorar el costo de los altos bienes, volviéndose también amigo de una pequeña niña llamada Emily y su madre Alexia, una amistosa mujer de clase media que se encuentra luchando contra la leucemia que padece su hija. Todo esto comienza a generar un cambio en Jason haciéndolo comprender que tiene el potencial para convertirse en alguien especial para las personas no cegadas por el dinero, con lo cual puede ayudar a esa clase de personas e incluso dedicar su fortuna para hacer realidad las necesidades de otras personas, lo cual es la principal lección que su abuelo le dejó junto con la herencia.

The film is about Stevens a millionaire businessman who after death inherits a large part of his fortune to his resentful grandson named Jason, a lonely young and irresponsible not appreciate the value of work and the significance of winning real honest; and as heir to the fortune of his grandfather, it is assigned to complete 12 "tasks" that they will understand the value of hard earned and leave him a lesson of life known as a "gift" for every task.

During this time, Jason lose everything you own so that you begin to appreciate the high cost of goods, also becoming friends with a little girl named Emily and her mother Alexia, a friendly middle-class woman who is battling leukemia suffering his daughter. All this starts generating a change in making understand that Jason has the potential to become someone special for those not blinded by money, which can help such people and even devote his fortune to realize the needs of others, which is the main lesson that his grandfather left him with inheritance.
